Online Talk : Tue 30 of March - 7 PM

The Ethical Dilemmas of Scientific and Technological Progress

As science and technology make rapid progress, we often dont have time as societies to gauge their impact on our lives and those of future generations, not to mention the rest of the planet.

This talk will make a distinction between progress in science (physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy, etc.) and technological progress, since confusing the two can prevent us from seeing the bigger picture. Technologies have done great things for us and changed our societies, but not always for the better. The speaker, Florimond Krins, who is an electrical engineer, will suggest that we also need ethics and philosophy to help us navigate the challenges that these technological advances bring.

Tickets for this talk are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis to help support our activities, please visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-ethical-dilemmas-of-scientific-and-technological-progress-tickets-144396223993 for further details. Thank you!
