Short Course : Tues 14, Tues 21, Tues 28 of February - 7 PM

Images and Symbols of Nature

The ecological crisis we are suffering today can be partly ascribed to our dissociation from Nature, which is commonly seen as a resource to be exploited for humanity’s benefit. In other times and cultures, human beings have viewed Nature as a living being and connected with it through the symbolic imagination – the faculty of understanding the essence of things beyond words and rational concepts.

Based on these traditions, this short course will help to reawaken our connection with the natural world as a first and indispensable step towards treating Nature as a being rather than an object.

1st Evening: Introduction to the symbolism of numbers and geometric forms in Nature. Symbolism of the mineral kingdom: metals and precious stones.
2nd Evening: The Symbolism of Plants and Animals.
3rd Evening: The Four Elements in Nature and their Application in Alchemy.
